Being Grateful

What great things we all have to be so grateful for, whether big or small. I won't say too much on this post because the words of this song say it all.

My words and thoughts: There are so many things that we can all think about that we don't have. I can probably run off about 20 things instantly as I'm sure we all can. :)
But when you think about all of the things that you do have that are the main essential things that matter the most. I'm grateful that this morning I had oatmeal, but if I wanted I could have cooked bacon, eggs and toast. Or if I chose, I had about 4 choices of cereal as well. But there was a time when I would have complained this morning because I didn't have extra money budgeted for IHOP. You see where I'm going with this? Although, my example displays so many breakfast choices, but to even have one box of cereal meant that I had breakfast available to me that morning, which is all of the reason to be grateful. And to have so many choices, takes me to a level of thankfulness and gratefulness because I have options.

Think about how many pairs of shoes you may have. I used to have a walk-in closet in my old apartment in South Carolina and as I would walk in I would literally trip over my shoes. All the while, I would say, I need some new shoes. Now, I won't be the person who says, look at what you have, you shouldn't buy anything else because you already have so much! No, because then I would be a hypocrite. :) The message is just to be so grateful for what you have already. So when you look down and you want to complain about having the right shoe for that right outfit, stop and think about, how you are so fortunate to have all of the ones you are tripping over in your closet. (smile)

Think about gratefulness this week and what you are grateful to have. Remember even its a little, remember having a little is a lot to someone: job, family, material needs, health, finances.

This song was written by the late Walter Hawkins who was an outstanding gospel artist. He wrote some of the greatest and most meaningful gospel songs. I'll post the lyrics in the next post.
